Project Overview

Matres is a lightweight cloud-based human resources solution management system specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises.

It is one of Nsecured's B2B products.

In this project, I developed a payroll calculation and scheduling system on the HR platform, allowing for one-click salary calculation and scheduling. Additionally, I implemented a leave application feature on the employee platform, enabling employees to easily request time off. Throughout the project, I also took charge of maintaining and managing the overall design of the system.

Challenge

The goal of this particular project was to identify any usability issues with the latest release.
based on customer feedback ,old vision Payroll Calculation System on the HR platform was complained not intuitive enough

Solution

•implemented a design process. This has helped our team establish more structure to how we conduct our work and allow other teams to gain visibility across our upcoming sprints.

•Establishing a design kit. This has helped to maintain consistency in the look and feel across different parts of the platform.

•Establishing a design system. This has helped the Engineering and Product teams to understand how and why we choose to implement certain components over others.

Old Solution

Based on the problems identified, I worked towards addressing these pains by coming up with potential solutions.

Design Process
Our process at Matres is based on the Double Diamond Theory and Lean UX process. We aim to incorporate the key phases of Discovery, Definition, Ideation and Implementation in all of our projects.

Research
To make sure what the users' needs and wants, interviews were conducted while users were using current version .

Research Goal
Where does the payroll calculation process deviate significantly from reality?
•Can users clearly see the primary information and figure out how to use when landing on the first page?
•Can users find the important information?
•Does the CTA clear enough for users to understand what it is?

Insight
After interviewing five participants took the interviews, and summarized into insight
•Participants have hard time to find certain information.
•Participants are confused while using the funtion, there were too much going on

Outcome
I iterated the the payroll management , made the audit process easy as peasy, just need three steps and completion, and published in v1.7.6, we made video to help clients using it.
After this version publication , we got more pros than cons ,and get more insight from cons and keep iterating.

Takwaway
Some key takeaways from this project are:

•Create a strategic plan to launch an MVP. This helps deal with out-of-scope requests that could potentially derail the project and helps deliver a quality product in time.

•User testing doesn't end after development. Design is a constant iteration of improving the experience for the end user. Always find ways to collect and listen to your user's feedback.

•Involve engineering upfront. This helps to reduce any rework later on as an understanding of the technical limitations upfront will help to inform your design strategy.
